1. Who we are

SignHello (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a web application at signhello.com that teaches hearing people Deaf culture through short daily lessons. You can reach us at hello@signhello.com.

2. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Your email address
• A hashed (never plain-text) password, if you sign up with email
• Your lesson progress, XP, and streak
• Optional onboarding answers (why you joined, your learning goal)

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, or payment information. We do not run ads.

3. How we use your data

• To save your progress and sync it across devices
• To send you product updates and streak reminders (you can unsubscribe anytime)
• To understand how people use the app so we can improve it

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

We use the following services to run SignHello:

• Supabase — authentication and database storage. Privacy policy
• Netlify — website hosting. Privacy policy
• Loops — transactional and marketing emails. Privacy policy

5. Cookies & local storage

We use cookies solely to keep you logged in (via Supabase). We also store your lesson progress in your browser's local storage so the app works quickly. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently remove your personal data within 30 days.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

8. Children's privacy

SignHello is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a notice in the app. Continued use of SignHello after changes means you accept the updated policy.
